Our Story

Dear animal friend,

Thank you for visiting our website!

My name is Jonas (the right one on the picture) and I'm the founder of Dognity. This is our story.

I'm an incredible dog lover since I was young. In 2012, my parents promised me to get me a dog if I had good results in my first year at university. I did my very best and succeeded. As promised, we went to a puppy shop where I could choose between different dog breeds. We bought a dog and that's when the horror story started.

After a couple of days, our puppy, named Lio, became very sick. He had no energy and it was clear he was in severe pain. We went immediately to our veterinarian. She told us that we bought our dog from a puppy mill and explained what it was. Luckily, Lio survived after a long and costly treatment. The situation made me very upset. The fact that we, a well-educated family, were ignorant about these horrible practices, frustrated me enormously.

I did some more research and started to realise that we were not the only ones that never heard about puppy mills. I decided to convert my strong negative feelings into a campaign to create awareness for these practices and to promote rescuedogs. That's why I founded an instagram page (@dognity_) where people from all over the world can send us pictures of their rescuedogs. I share these pictures to show how great our rescue friends are and to promote the following slogan: Adopt, don't shop!

At this point, we want to take the project to the next level. We want to sell products to create a real brand and improve the awareness. Profits will be shared with local dog shelters and be invested in new projects for extra rescuedog promotions!

Feel free to contact us for questions or to share your stories!
